What’s Up Lately Episode 007

What’s Up Lately.

Episode 007.

We’ve arrived at episode 007!!

Does that mean I have covert information?!

Top secret stuff to share?!

Perhaps…

I’m rubbing my hands with glee because I actually do have new developments to share.

Fall.

But first…

It is fall, everybody!!

Fall!!

The trees along the Blue Ridge Parkway are glorious with their red, and yellows, and oranges.

They make me happy to live in Virginia and within a 5-minute drive of seeing the Blue Ridge Mountains in all their splendor.

I don’t see fall as winter is around the corner…I fully embrace this season in the here and now.

Hello Hair Time.

I got my hair done.

Yep.

I love when it’s time to go in for my hair appointment. I’m not very good at self-care. This is one of the few places that I indulge myself and I leave there so happy. I get to have great conversation with my hairstylist and I get to leave feeling beautiful.

Fall Photography.

Yellows seem to be my favorite of the fall colors. There’s just something about the way that they pop off of the browns. I do love the reds on trees, but those yellows on against the browns are just amazing.

Do you have a favorite autumn color?

My Photography.

Ok.

I can’t stand it any longer.

I wouldn’t make a very good spy.

My BIG news is that I’ve finally made the plunge into selling my photography.

If you dug around my website after I made the announcement of the new layout in my last “What’s Up Lately” post then you might have already discovered this fact on the “Shop Photography” tab.

However, I’ve been holding off on the official announcement until I have the site more fully stocked.

Even now I still have much to add, but at the current time I’ve decided to use Fine Art America / Pixels to handle the fulfillment of my work and they just sent me a notice that they are offering free shipping within the United States until Sunday at midnight EST.

I will be adding to the collection throughout the weekend, but there may already be something there that is what you have been seeking.

Hiking.

Part of my fully embracing autumn is getting and hiking more and more.

One of my strange quirks (very Virgo of me) is that I carry my ID on me when hiking, just in case anything untoward should happen to me. I almost hate to share that given my post on Halloween.

However, this is the truth of how my mind works and how I appease it.

Well, I lost my drivers license on the trail this week.

Very UN-Virgo of me.

We walked the trail again the next day and it was nowhere to be found. It doesn’t have my current address printed on it…so there’s that. I ordered a new one and they give you a temporary to print out. Which is a good thing because my rule-following self would be petrified is I was driving around without my driver’s license (although I’ve had no accidents or speeding tickets in my life…knock on wood).

Reading Challenge.

The Reading Challenge is moving forward.

Missed my status? Check out Episode 006.

I finished The Mermaid and Mrs. Hancock . It was definitely an interesting read.

I asked my librarian for a recommendation and she shared Behind Closed Doors by B.A. Paris. I’m about to start it.

I also picked up Cymbeline by Shakespeare to fill the play genre.

Have you read anything good lately?

Sunrise on the Blue Ridge Parkway.

On Miss Sunshine’s early days, she gets dropped off at school before the sun rises. I made plans to head up to the Blue Ridge Parkway to capture an actual sunrise.

Here is a quick capture.

I’m just beginning to process the photos and hope to have those ready for the public very soon.

Be sure to check out the “Shop Photography” section and tell me your favorite shot or what you would like to see more of.

Until then…

I hope you are having a glorious day filled with all that makes your spirit soar.

Let your light shine!

Amy

  1. Congrats on going pro Amy! I hope it turns into a very successful venture for you. Considering the quality of the images I’ve seen you produce, there’s no reason why it wouldn’t be.
On a different subject I read an article about a local lady here who is doing some amazing zero-waste- lifestyle work. Her and her son produce barely a handful of actual trash each week. It made me think of the time you were talking about cutting out straws and plastics. Let me know if you’re interested and I’ll send you a link to her website.

    1. Thank you so much Norm and the kinds words are much appreciated.
I would love to see the article that you are talking about. It sounds like she’s managed some amazing strides in zero-waste!!

  2. I am glad you’re selling your work. Honestly, I wish more of the photographers on WP would sell their images. Sometimes I really love the work. Can’t wait to check you out!
Yellows are always where it’s at for me.
Hair fabulous, leaves spectacular, news of your shop, magnificent!
Oh, and a trip to the mountains sounds marvelous, so enjoy it for me 🙂

    1. Thank Joey! Yes, there are quite a few amazing photographers here on WP. They are a great inspiration.
I’ve been taking full advantage of the mountains. 🙂

    1. Thanks so much Marcus!! I’m hoping it goes well. 🙂 I hope that you had a great weekend.

  3. How exciting that you’re selling your images. The platform looks really good. I wish you much success!

Your hair looks great. I wish mine would grow that long. The sunrise was stunning.

    1. Thanks so much Deborah!! It puts me well outside of my comfort zone, but it felt like it was time.
My hair tends to grow pretty fast, which is not helpful for the roots. lol.
I never get up in the mountains for sunrise because I’m usually still rousting kids out to school, but it was great to sit there and watch it come up.

  4. Congratulations on your venture!! Good luck – I wish you an abundance of success 🙂

I’m not a Virgo but I’ve been carrying ID with me while hiking / cycling etc forever. Ironically, the 2 occasions when I crashed and ended up in an ambulance I didn’t have my ID with me, but thankfully I wasn’t alone.

    1. Thank you Joanne!!
I think the ID carrying is probably more about wisdom than being a Virgo. lol. So glad that you had someone with you for those crashes!!

  5. Lol!! Yesss so excited for the “007” episode 😉

Woohoo- I feel your excitement for fall for sure! And your hair looks just gorgeous! Ahh I cannot wait to check out your website- you certainly have an eye for photography! How exciting!! Hope you get that DL replaced soon- I lost mine one time too. I just hate to think whose hands it could end up in (and it does have my current address!) Love this update. Thanks for sharing, Amy!!! Always look forward to your posts.

    1. Thanks Mackenzie!! They were good about getting the license sent right out to me, so I’m back in the ID business! I’m sorry to hear that you have lost your before too. It’s not fun! I’m not thrilled to think about who might have found it. I’m It’s not a flattering picture AT ALL. In Virginia, your smile can’t show teeth and the photo is black and white, which I wasn’t prepared for after all my years in Florida! Glad you enjoyed the update and thanks so much for stopping by!! xx

      1. I just make sure to check my credit score alll the time just in case! And that’s so interesting you can’t smile at all! And it’s black and white?! That’s so different than Ohio and California (the two places I had licenses). Learn something new every day!

      2. I’ll have to remember to check my credit score! They do let you smile, just no teeth…which they said after I smiled so I had to pull back to an unnatural one and they snapped the photo just then (of course). lol.

  6. That’s such exciting news Amy. Congrats to you on the leap. Your photos are beautiful and your hair looks damn gorgeous too! 🙂 xx

    1. Thanks Miriam! It’s an exciting leap to be sure. I hope the photographs are well received. And gorgeous hair is a high compliment…thank you!! xx <3
