Tuesday Truth.
Number 42.

Fear often holds us back.
As the Persian poet, Hafiz said, it is the cheapest room in the house.
I would like to see you in better living conditions as well.
Take an inventory.
Where are you letting fear hold you back?
For me, it’s not putting my words or photographs out there enough for fear of failure or fear of rejection. And while I’ve come a long way in that department, there are still many times when I just do nothing or say nothing or share nothing out of this fear.
If you are letting fear hold you back from chasing your dreams, accomplishing that goal, believing in yourself…then I hope that today is the day that you find a better room.
Let your light shine!
Amy
Full ack, Amy
Thank you!
I need to hear this type of encouragement more often! I have oodles of images in my head not created b/c I’m afraid to go out alone, or I won’t post the images I do have b/c I don’t think they’re good enough, and people will hate them. The biggest fear of the two is going out alone. That’s a big hurdle for me.
I’m glad to share some encouragement!! Going out alone is a big hurdle for me as well. I think it’s exacerbated by the fact that there have been attempted assaults in some of the areas around here. Not many, but it still adds to my discomfort. Your photography is phenomenal Deborah!!
Oh yes, that stopped me from hiking on a favorite trail early in the mornings when I was training for a big hike back in 2010. I started seeing 4 men in group hiking up the trail and not wearing hiking clothes or shoes, and they just didn’t fit the “type” of men I normally see on the trail. It put a kink in my training for a bit. I had to find another trail. Better safe than sorry I thought.
Amen sister!! Ok, you have convinced me! I am going to tackle that crack climb in the gym tonightπ
WooHoo, Dee Dee!!! Did you tackle it? π
I did, but it is a tough form of climbing. This is going to take me a few tries π
Fear of failure can be a such a paralyzing thing, and I know that to be true. But when we push past the fear, that’s when great things happen. So when all else fails, it helps to remember that baby steps are always better than no steps at all. That’s what I keep reminding myself. π
So true! Great things do happen past that fear. Baby steps! Yes to that!!
A good reminder on the concept of fear, Amy. I had to look back on my “About me” page since part of my introduction is that I am feeling “a combination of love and fear” starting my blog. You have a beautiful site and beautiful words to share with the world:)
Thank you so much for your kind words, Erica! Most of the quotes I share are giant spotlight reminders to myself, so I love that others find the truth and reminder in them as well. π
I needed some Tuesday Truth in my life- and this one hit straight to the heart! THANK YOU for sharing <3
Thank you, Mackenzie!! I’m so glad that it landed where it needed to. π
Amy, your photos and stories are always welcomed and enjoyed. Donβt hold back. Youβre depriving the world otherwise. xx
Oh, thank you so much Miriam!! I needed to hear these words. They are much appreciated! xx
I like this thought!!!
It’s such a good one to keep in mind. π
Excellent!
Thanks! π
Hi, I found this post by chance in WP reader when searching “Hafiz.” What a wonderful community you have here! Just lovely!
Fear is a tough one; I keep trying to dissolve it with love. But it takes a lot of effort sometimes to flip that switch in my brain. :)) xoxo
Thank you, Lia! π
It does take a lot of effort to flip that switch. I seem to be perpetually reminding myself not to live in a place of fear. xx
