Tuesday Truth.
Number 38.

Some of my favorite quotes are by Rumi.
For today, I’ll leave you with this one to ponder.
I’m in a season of self-reflection and this quote seems appropriate for this current segment of my life journey.
Does it resonate with you?
On another note, the summer seems to be flying. It’s been full of intense heat followed by lots of rain here in
How is the weather in your area? I hope its been delightfully glorious!
I plan on popping in to chat more often as the summer progresses but if your curious about what’s “trending” from my archives and may have missed it in the past, there’s been an uptick in visits to:
Love Letter To My Daughter which was written to Miss Sunshine when she turned thirteen in 2016.
What I Learned From 30 Days of No Alcohol which was written in 2017 and was the catalyst for my year of “this is 40” monthly challenges. I’ve thought about writing a follow-up to this because while everything I say is valid, once I drank again I realized there were actual changes that I didn’t notice the first time.
Interesting combo but there you have it. π
Let your light shine!
Amy
Thanks for posting that wonderful quote, Amy! Sitting on my balcony high above the Mediterranean I can fully relate and ponder…..Wish you a fab summer, hey, it’s only July π
Ahhh…thatβs sounds so wonderful Marcus! Somewhere on the Mediterranean is on our short list for upcoming vacations! Even though I get to fully embrace sunshine for the rest of the summer, July usually represents the end of summer traveling since Miss Sunshine starts back to soccer and school very early in August. I wish you a fab summer as well!
My period of reflection and self-analysis tends to occur in the late winter/early spring – which coincides with my birthday. Coincidence? Probably not.
Summer is a high activity time for me. Our window of great outdoor weather is pretty narrow so we Canadians tend to embrace it wholeheartedly.
This is a great quote and one I believe in. If we don’t dig deep, we’ll never know what we’re truly capable of achieving.
Happy Tuesday! Hope it’s a great one! Mine will be spent on water in a kayak … a perfect place to spend a hot summer day π
This period of reflection tends to fit into the spaces of summer downtime since my schedule gets all flipped around, but I agree that birthdays also brings those times of self-analysis. And I’d say late winter does too!!
Kayaking sounds like so much fun!! We are discussing a river run sometime after our beach trip!
Since I got my kayak this spring, I’m full-on in paddling mode. I’m getting more comfortable with the transportation side of it and not so much of a nervous wreck driving with this thing on top of the car.
Thankfully the club I belong to has a very active paddling calendar so I have many more kayaking opportunities ahead of me this summer π
Hi Amy, Rumi quotes are timeless. I find I am able to reflect more during quiet periods of my life. Our Fall trip camping to Long Beach is always a retreat for us. Summer seems to be jam packed with visitors and events. Enjoy your precious family moments:)
A fall camping trip sounds like a wonderful reflection time, Erica! My mornings in the summer tend to be quiet because the teens sleep them away. π After that it gets pretty busy!!
I have never been one to spend much if any time on self reflection. A flaw no doubt. I just roll with the punches.
Weather here has been lovely not to hot for me, and chilly in the mornings.
I’m off alcohol for awhile trying to shed some pounds. I’ve not had any since mid June, don’t really miss it, but the pounds aren’t budging! I guess I need to shed some calories and add more exercize into the mix too.
I think everyone has different needs when it comes to reflection. I know many people where that isn’t an important process and they are quite content with that.
I’m so glad to hear that the weather has been lovely!! We are getting some nice days here as well.
I’m currently not having any alcohol because I know that I will at the beach and I’m pretty sure I’ve had a recent shift in metabolism (and not in the good direction!!) and have been cutting out alcohol and down on dairy and processed foods. I’ve been having issues with my sciatic nerve so I’m probably doing less intensive workouts to make sure I don’t irritate it more. I wish you the best in your shedding goals!
The quote does resonate with me – I often lose myself while peddling like mad to go slowly backwards…
I’m glad to hear it resonates Jonathan. I always hope that the quotes I choose will be words that strike a chord with those reading them. π Speaking of peddling, you spend quite a lot of time each day peddling. Do you find that almost like meditation (or are you so busy trying not to be run over that your mind isn’t able to relax)?
Thatβs a beautiful quote Amy. I too am in a period of self reflection and taking time to focus on myself. So important to nurture ourselves. Enjoy your summer my friend. xx π
Thank you, Miriam! It is important to nurture ourselves. I’m glad to see that you are taking the time to do so. xx
The weather is hot, but back in the 80s instead of the 90s β much better.
80’s are so much better than 90’s!! We’ve been having quite a few days in the 90’s and I’m not a fan of them.
Finding oneself would seemingly involve navigating the depths of an entire ocean, so I can certainly understand that fine quote. Fortunately, while the ocean can be a dark and mysterious place, it is also one of the most beautiful, magical places. Just like our hearts. π
Oh, I just love your description, Angelica!! I think you summed it all up wonderfully! <3
Hi Amy,
I am glad your summer is going well! The weather here is all over the place and not amazing!
Hi Dee Dee!! Fingers crossed that your weather gets amazing soon!! We are in the midst of a nasty heatwave but I’m escaping tomorrow for the beach (and surprisingly, lower temperatures)
