Tuesday Truth #65

Tuesday Truth.

Number 65.

No act of kindness, No matter how small, is ever wasted. -Aesop

This past Friday was World Kindness Day.

A day to focus on the positive power of kindness.

Kindness is defined as the quality of being friendly, generous, and considerate.

I think every day should be World Kindness Day.

Wouldn’t it be amazing if we as a collective just decided to be conscientious about being kind?

If that were our default?

Can you imagine the ripple effect?

I love these wise words from Aesop:

No act of kindness, No matter how small, is ever wasted.

This comes from Aesop’s fable of The Lion and The Mouse. If you’ve missed this fable somehow, the short version is the lion captures the mouse, the mouse begs to be spared saying that someday it will repay the lion. Later, the lion is caught in a hunter’s net and the mouse come along and gnaws the binding and frees him, leading to the moral you see quoted.

Little kindnesses can make a huge difference. A smile can change the trajectory of a person’s day. A kind word can lift the spirit. No kindness is a waste. Even if the recipient doesn’t fully appreciate the gesture, according to this Mayo Clinic article, kindness can make you happier and healthier. The act of helping others actually activates the part of your brain that makes you feel pleasure. And research has confirmed that generosity is contagious.

So take a moment today to offer someone kindness, no matter how small. And while you’re at it, offer yourself some kindness as well.

Let your light shine!
