Dear Creativity

Dear Creativity, I feel you flowing through my veins. You are like a lion Stalking its prey. Slowly advancing And then swiftly capturing me. Entangling me in your ecstasy, Filling me with a desire to set free my imagination. Awakening my childlike wonder. I see you in the shapes of the clouds. I smell you [...]

Atop the World

March 21, 2017March 24, 2021by Bedlam & Daisies22 Comments on Atop the World

How's the view from atop the world? How's the view when everything is going your way? A smile on your face? A kind word on your lips? A light shining for all to see? How's the view when you're all alone? How's the view when life is caving in? Do you still radiate the light [...]

Time Travel Tuesday -40 years

November 15, 2016April 26, 2019by Bedlam & Daisies22 Comments on Time Travel Tuesday -40 years

Love Story. A little ditty about Jack and Diane Two American kids growing up in the Heartland... Oh, wait...Wrong story. But this is still a love story about two teenagers. Only they were growing up in coastal, fishing town. 40 Years. Today my parents celebrate 40 years since they stood before a judge and [...]

I’ll meet You in the field

July 8, 2016January 13, 2017by Bedlam & Daisies4 Comments on I’ll meet You in the field

Out beyond ideas of wrongdoing and rightdoing, there is a field. I'll meet you there. When the soul lies down in that grass, the world is too full to talk about. Ideas, language, even the phrase "each other" doesn't make any sense. -Rumi Let your light shine! Amy Save Save Save

A Face Finding Her Way. Reflections. Confusion sets in Am I this me or that me Still finding myself -Amy Lyon Smith Haiku. I've been wanting to take a try at writing Haiku.  I like how it expresses so much by saying so little. I tend to get sidetracked and tell 100 different stories before [...]

A Mother’s Love

May 8, 2016May 8, 2016by Bedlam & Daisies12 Comments on A Mother’s Love

The sun shone brightly On our stroll along the well loved shore We laughed even though there were tears in our hearts My return home, to celebrate her- a life well lived Our rock and wisdom called to her eternal home Days spent recounting memories The dolphin's hello And the ashes flowing A welcoming embrace. [...]

Childhood Abandoned

May 3, 2016May 3, 2016by Bedlam & Daisies7 Comments on Childhood Abandoned

As I look upon the remnants Of a childhood abandoned I remember the squeals of delight The urging to be pushed higher To have the toes touch the sky Remembering how you never wanted the ride to end I see the yellow earth movers Now covered in weeds That once scooped at the sands Where [...]

The Face Behind the Words

Hey there. I'm Amy.
I'm a wife and a mother of three young adults.
In my earlier years of motherhood, I helped my children pursue their passions. Now I've started focusing on discovering some of my own passions. Travel and photography finding their way to the top. At Bedlam & Daisies, I seek to share with you the beauty that I find in the midst of chaos. I hope you'll come along on this journey of discovery with me.
