Blogging Tools.
Blogging tools can be lifesavers.
There is a broad array of tools available. There are ones that help automate processes, which can free up some of your precious time. There are also tools that make you appear as though you are a graphic designing pro (I’m lookin’ at you Canva).
But today, I wanted to share one of the newer ones in my array of tools. I mentioned it briefly in my recent post reflection on my third blog anniversary.
Grammarly Writing App.
It’s a writing app.
Grammarly is a writing app that is a grammar checker, spell-checker and plagiarism detector.
I don’t know why I didn’t add it sooner.
This writing app is free, so I didn’t have a good excuse.
And that means that you don’t either!

I’ve made public apologies, via this blog, to all the editors out there. In the past, I’ve audibly gasped when I’ve stumbled upon a spelling or grammar error in a bestseller.
However, I had to tuck my tail between my legs when I began writing publicly. I would proofread…and proofread again. Hit publish. And then I would come back a few days later to reread my work and be horrified by errors that I had put out as complete and flawless.
Now, I know I talk openly about my flaws and my journey of personal growth.
But still!
I like to have command of the English language.
Even if I purposefully choose to use slang occasionally.

Mistakes…Let me count the ways.
When I first got the writing app, I went through the majority of my old posts especially the ones that people still return to and ran them through Grammarly.
Oh my!
Yes, I know you’re surprised too. Sometimes things had slipped past this agile mind. Often my mind moves more quickly than my fingers type. Sometimes I catch the fact that I have left out random words that I am sure that were there.
Other times I don’t.
Now that I have Grammarly in place, I check each document before I hit publish! The free version of Grammarly includes critical grammar and spelling checks.
Premium Plan.
However, they also have a premium plan which gives you advanced checks for punctuation, grammar, context, and sentence structure. That plan also includes vocabulary enhancement suggestions, genre-specific writing style checks, and a plagiarism detector.
I will tell you that I have had errors that fell under this category as well.
I’m aware some of you who read my blog are English majors.
And don’t think I don’t know that you are sitting there shaking your head in agreement because you saw them, but didn’t want to point them out.
You all know I’m a math and science girl (with a creative streak thrown in)!
And a girl has to get help where she needs it.
And now I have it.
Plan Pricing.
The cost for the premium plan is $29.95 USD per month.
But you can pay quarterly or annually and save money!
The quarterly subscription breaks down to $19.98 (billed as $59.95) USD per month and annually it comes out to be $11.66 per month (billed as $139.95) USD.
You can sign up for
p.s. – You don’t have to use it only for blogging. It also works great for making sure those e-mails you send out are representing you in a way that would make you proud.

Let your light shine!

Is this a paid post ? 🙂 I sometimes use Grammarly 🙂
I’ve been very happy with my experience with them. That’s why I became an affiliate for them. Which is disclosed right below the featured image 😉 (as per FTC rules – you know I’m a rule follower and have always been transparent. lol). I am rather mortified by the mistakes I let go to print in the past. But I’m always learning 🙂
I added Grammarly when you mentioned it last year- what a difference it has made for me! I rarely leave out words now or make spelling errors, but I do need to add the app to my cell phone while Grammarly has helped me make fewer errors I still make them.
Thanks for tips!!
I’m so glad that it made a difference for you Deborah!! It’s been so great for me. I need to add the app to my phone too. I don’t typically do much writing on my phone outside of Instagram. I prefer real keys. lol.
Me too, but I still reply to a lot of text, and there was the time I texted friends to meet me at the begins with F and ends in K pond because I wasn’t wearing my reading glasses while typing.
When they found me they approached me laughing and showed me one of their cell phones and said, “read this text!”
I meant to type Duck Pond! They’re never gonna let me live that one down. Shakes head.
I’m sure it was mortifying at the time, but it does make for a good story! 🙂
This is sooo useful! I need to install this ASAP. Thank you for sharing your waysss, Amy!
It’s been great!! I’m happy to share!! 🙂
The journey of growth is infinite. Interesting information about “Grammarly”. I really like the quote by Louis. L’Amour. You have many amazing quotes on your site, Amy!
Yes, growth is infinite. I find deep happiness in that! I thought that L’Amour quote was great. I have stories that I always want to write (novel-like) and yet I never turn that faucet on. I love quotes. I’m so glad that you enjoy them. 🙂
Agreed! Grammarly is an affective tool. In our opinion, it should come pre-installed in all social media and writing platforms.
That sure would be great if it did! It’s such a wonderful tool.
