30 Day Challenge…July

30 Day Fitness Challenge Monthly Challenge

30 Day Challenge.

I can’t believe that I’ve made it to month 11 in my year of 30-day challenges.

If you are new to the blog, I have been doing a 30-day challenge each month since I turned 40 last September. They vary between physical and mental challenges but are always meant to encourage personal growth.

July Challenge.

Normally, I announce my challenge prior to the beginning of the month.

However, I am on vacation and most of my days have looked like the photo above. That view makes it hard to think about little more than staying in the present, soaking up the beauty and tucking it away for me to draw upon on the days where I’m not so happy with what life is throwing at me.

A reminder of gratitude.

A reminder of my happy place.

The place where my soul feels at ease and the pace of my life slows.

The place where procrastination is almost a given.

The Challenge for July is…

A 30 Day Fitness Challenge.

Since I’ve been lounging around for a large part of June, I thought that I’d take on another fitness challenge.  Last night I dug around on Pinterest to find a challenge that would work with the fact this I am still traveling and that when I return, I have two full days of college orientation with Big Mr.

I’m a little nervous about the number of push-ups because I have shoulder issues, but I did make it through the plank challenge.

If you are interested in joining in the challenge, you can find the infographic here on Pinterest. Or on this Fitbit page, which also shows you how to do each move.

I’ll still be lounging at the beach for the next week, but I’ll be fitting in the pieces of the challenge as well.

I hope that your July is off to an amazing start!!

  1. Looks like a good one Amy! I have a lot of outdoor climbing in my July, so I will cheer you on from the top of the mountain๐Ÿ’•

  2. Love this challenge! So far today I’ve completed 25 push ups, some stretches, and He-Man is pumping the tires on my bike so I can ride this evening. I haven’t ridden my bike in years! I rode Baby Girls earlier this year so I still know how to ride one! ๐Ÿ™‚ I want to ride 4 miles today.

I hope to ride with #1 Grandson everyday this summer for a little ride. We’re requiring 30 mins. of outside play time before he can have ipad/computer time. He’s chosen to ride his glider around the neighborhood, but he’s so fast I have to run to keep up, and I can’t run. My left hip kills me if I run, so I thought riding my bike along with him would be good for me too. ๐Ÿ˜€

    1. I haven’t ridden a bike since we moved to a more mountainous area. Miss Sunshine and I rode around on beach cruisers while we were at the cottage and I loved that. That sounds like a wonderful way to spend time and get outdoors with #1 Grandson.

Push-ups are not my specialty and my rotator cuff gets irritated, but even if I have to space them out, I plan to complete them. 25 is awesome!! ๐Ÿ™‚

      1. I didn’t make it 4 miles on my bike. I did about half that. My butt started to bother me. I should have borrowed He-Man’s biking shorts. I plan to buy a pair of my own!
I rode yesterday too, and plan to ride this evening. It’s fun!

      2. I’m not sure how far we traveled. It was about 45 minutes of biking on the longest day, but it was definitely at a VERY leisurely pace. I couldn’t imagine being a long distance biker because I’m not sure that even the biking shorts would help me! lol!

    1. Thank you Joanne!! I love cheering! ๐Ÿ™‚
Push-ups are the hardest part for me because of my shoulder, but I figure that I’ll space them out if I have to. lol.

    2. I can’t do “real” push-ups unfortunately. I haven’t got the arm strength for that. I do a modified one. On my knees, and I push off one of those stair step whatchamacallits. Or I do a modified one pushing off the countertop if there’s nothing solid lower to push up from. I’ve never been able to do a “real” push up.

      1. hmmm – I’ll have to try some modified versions and maybe work my way up. Right now I can do 1/2 a pushup … the ‘down’ part is good. Still working on the ‘up’ part ๐Ÿ˜

      2. Really! I get halfway and I can’t go any farther. My mind or body just. won’t. go. any. lower!
It hurts my rotor cuff at that point too. If I were able to actually get down all the way to the floor I’m sure I would be able to push myself back up, but I can’t lower myself down! I’m too heavy! Me. My own weight is too heavy!! Which is why I do the modified version. The step thingamig and being on my knees rather than in a plank position is the key to me being able to any sort of push up at. all!

But I can go from a Sun Salutation to a Plank and hold that for 30 seconds…not easy at. all! But I can make that transition sans probleme.

It’s the strength it takes to lower oneself to the floor I lack. Honestly, I salute everyone who can do a “real” push up, and pull up! Those are not for wimps!

Neither is aging I’m finding. Getting old sucks, and it aint for wimps or babies! Both of which I am!

      3. Amen!! I’m starting to feel betrayed by my body. I hate to consider how much worse it’s going to be in 10 years … if I’m so lucky.

      4. I cranked out the five push up day…ok…ok…not cranked, that was Miss Sunshine! Number 3 and 4 were very slow on the up part and Number 5 almost didn’t happen.
I have rotator cuff issues as well. My shoulders hurt for days. It didn’t help that the next day we went to Busch Gardens where they were slammed around on roller coaster harnesses.
I needed to save my shoulders on the 7 push up day and did a modified version where I was on my knees.
I suspect the future ones will be spread out in bursts over the day.

  3. Youโ€™ve done so well with the challenge Amy, congratulations. Hope you have a fabulous fit July. xx ๐Ÿ™‚

    1. Thank you Miram! I am steadily plugging away at this one. Between travels and busy things at home, it’s been squeezing it in, but I’ve managed. ๐Ÿ™‚

    1. Thanks Mackenzie. So far so good on the fitness challenge. It’s about the only fitness I’ve been getting in recent days is the only problem. lol.
