Tuesday Truth.
Number 61.

It’s been a while!
I hope that you all are doing well.
Life just keeps chugging along. We are in the middle of a heatwave here in Roanoke, Virginia. It makes me wonder how I spent so much of my life as a Floridian.
Over the 4th of July, the hubby and I spent a week at the beach. It was our first trip alone since our 20 year anniversary (where we spent 3 days Charleston in April 2019. You can read about that here: 11 Things to do in Charleston and Where to Eat and Drink in Charleston.) and it had been 8 years before that!
This time we visited Oak Island, North Carolina. We rented a cottage that was walkable to the beach. We spent a lot of time soaking up the sun and playing in the waves. We also did some kayaking in the salt marshes. The best thing about our time away was that we discovered that we really do like each other.
Outside of that, life still feels in limbo. Just as it does for many people. They’ve moved the start date of Miss Sunshine’s Junior year of high school. There’s still fluidity to what that will look like. It appears that she will go in person twice a week. There will be a Group 1 and Group 2 that dictates which two days. We don’t expect to find that out until it’s closer to the beginning of school. Big Mr. and Mr. D’s college classes have moved online outside of Mr. D’s Physics lab. Some classes will be Zoom meetings and some will be what is called asynchronous, meaning they are pre-recorded. We have decent Wi-Fi, but I’m still concerned about how that will look when all three of them need to stream a meeting. I’m hoping that the timelines won’t overlap too much.
I am still doing lots of reading and working on a few projects.
What has been happening in your life?
One day you will tell your story of how you’ve overcome what you are going through now, and it will become part of someone else’s survival guide. -unknown
What an interesting thought to ponder.
Life is often a collection of memories…of stories.
As a collective, we will all come out of the other side of this with many stories to tell.
I’ve just finished the first week of The Artist’s Way by Julia Cameron. I’m hoping to unblock my stagnated creativity. The morning pages are quite cathartic. I’m not sure that they’ll all be stories that will become part of someone else’s survival guide, but I can see how pieces of them might be worth sharing at some point in the distant future.
Are you writing down your stories?
Let your light shine!
Amy
*I’ve seen this quote attributed to Brené Brown as well as “unknown” or no attribution at all. During my due diligence to correctly attribute quotes, I found no source where Brené claims these as her words. Since I could not verify its original author, I chose to share it as unknown. If you have a source to share (ie: a book or talk from which these prove to be her words) I will gladly update to reflect that.
