Tuesday Truth #43

Tuesday Truth.

Number 43.

Instructions for living a life. Pay Attention. Be Astonished. Tell About It. - Mary Oliver

Sometimes I wish that life had a user manual.

But, of course, it doesn’t.

And really, where would be the fun in that.

However, sometimes some simple instructions are helpful.

And it doesn’t get any simpler than this.

So…

Pay Attention.

Be Astonished.

Tell About It.

We hear a lot about those first two instructions. But what about the third?

How often do you share about something that astonished you?

Just this week I found a feather on my back porch (fyi-it’s illegal to own feathers in North America, so I just admired it) and I searched an identification chart and learned it was a wing feather of a bluejay.

Also, while out on a walk, I found a piece of “sea glass” amongst a trail of gravel (I don’t live near the sea, but it sounds prettier than tumbled glass).

I’ve also sat mesmerized by the squirrels chasing each other up and down the trees in my yard.

This past week has seen me dealing with a sick child and finally arranging to begin treating the back pain that is stopping me from doing some of my favorites (hiking, pilates, and yoga). I share that to say that I haven’t done as much “paying attention” and “being astonished” as I would like, but what I have done, I am “telling about it”.

So, tell me, what have you been astonished by lately?

Let your light shine!

Amy
