  1. Something about frosty leafless trees bordering a still lake (or rivers this case) makes me want to curl up next to a fire and practice Hygge until the sun rises. Great photos!

      1. At the rate things are going right now, I think we’ll be seeing a white Christmas. That doesn’t exactly make me happy – but, oh well!

      2. Miss Sunshine is super disappointed that it’s not likely to be a White Christmas. We haven’t seen one of those yet. This also wasn’t enough to sled and she’s the queen of adventure. I prefer to curl up on the couch and stare at the pretty whiteness. Lol

      3. I’m with you on curling up inside to enjoy it! However, I do make an effort to get out because the winter is just too long and can get my mood down. Last week I bought a pair of skates and I’m determined to learn how to skate this year. Hopefully there will be no future posts about injuries sustained πŸ˜‰

  2. It looks gorgeous! I love the river and trees. Do the kids have enough layers on? Their coats don’t look fluffy enough to be warm, but what do I know. I freeze when the temperature drops below 68 degrees!

    1. Thanks Deborah. It really was beautiful that day. It gets a little chilly with only jeans on, but it wasn’t too bad for our short time out (and it’s taken me four years to come remotely close to being able to say that). Everyone else in the family is much hardier than me. πŸ™‚

      1. I don’t live where it snows, but I get cold really easily, and am cold most the time. Anyway, I’ve always wanted a pair or two of those flannel lined jeans for fall and winter.
When I move to NV where it does snow I fear I’ll live in those type of jeans Spring, and Summer, and Ski pants and parkas Fall and Winter.

I already wear wool socks ALL. YEAR. LONG.

Although it’s good to hear after 4 yrs you’re becoming acclimated to the climate there. It gives me hope that I might survive colder winters! πŸ™‚

      2. My doctor is pretty confident that I have Raynaud’s. There’s no actual test for it specifically, but I’m easily cold with the blue fingers and toes. The key for me is to immediately get warm. Once I’m cold “to my bones”, it’s almost impossible to layer on enough warmth. I have a mid-thigh length (might be knee length on some) packable down coat that I live in during the winter. But I definitely can handle it substantially colder than the 75 that required a hoodie when I lived in Florida. In fact, the 40’s and 50’s can be quite pleasant if the sun is shining and the wind isn’t blowing. πŸ™‚

      3. I’m so sorry you have Raynauds. I have it. It’s so annoying and painful at times. My fingers give out when doing night photography quite often. I haven’t been able to find the right pair of gloves to keep me warm. And, like you once it hits getting warmed up again takes forever!

50’s. I’m freezing to death. I’m sitting at my computer wearing a down parka, and a layer under that and wool socks as I type. It’s 70 in my house but, I just came in from the garage where my laundry area is and I’m freezing!
I’m going to make a hot cuppa tea and warm up then I’ll be able to take off my parka. πŸ™‚

      4. I can’t find warm gloves that fit and my cold feet were one of the reasons that I didn’t enjoy skiing. I think I will employ more warm drinks throughout the day this season. πŸ™‚

      5. I stumbled upon some really warm thick socks that I love. I went back for a second pair, and I even picked up a pair of the brands gloves too to try.

They’re called Heat Socks. I found them at Big 5, but I looked on Amazon to show you and found the socks there too. Here’s a link.

My toes are so warm wearing these! They’re great with boots too. I want to wear them everyday so bought the second pair. Now I can have at least two pair in rotation. πŸ™‚ I’m asking for more for Christmas.

I hope the gloves are a hit too. I’ll let you know.

Merry Christmas to you and yours Amy! xx
