Well, Hello!

I’m Amy and I’m so glad that you are here.

A little background.

I’m a Florida girl who was uprooted to a Virginia town in 2013.

Bedlam & Daisies was started in 2016 as a place to discover my passions as I found myself in a new phase of life.

It was also a journey to seek the beauty amongst the daily chaos of life.

I have been a stay-at-home-mom since the oldest was born (2000) and found myself in a place where my children (all three now teenagers) still needed me as an overseer (ok, and as a chauffeur), but they didn’t have the all-consuming needs they did when they were younger.

I wasn’t sure who I was outside of the roles that I held.

As Wife.

Now.

Since beginning the blog, I have found passions for photography, travel, yoga, and meditation, just to name a few.

Perhaps you are on a similar journey of discovery.

You’ve always been a beautiful person both on the inside and the outside, a true intellectual (as your formal education bears out.) These facts coupled with your unwavering faith in God and passion to seek truth and wisdom will undoubtedly uplift and inspire others.

      1. I wish you the best of luck on the journey of discovery! It is definitely a fun and interesting one. My teens still keep my schedule pretty packed, but I’m learning to carve out time for the exploration. 🙂

  16. Hi Amy! I found you on the meet-and-greet. First of all, you are lovely! Second of all, what an absolutely terrific name for your site! Finally, your photographs are so wonderful, you are a really good photographer and a wonderful writer. I look forward to following you! I am originally from Virginia, Northern Virginia, but am very familiar with Roanoke. Made many a road trip there in college, I went to Shenandoah University in Winchester, VA. Anyway, again, I look forward to your posts!

    1. Hi! So nice of you to come by. And thank you so much for your kind words! We head to NOVA for some soccer tournaments (and some great shopping) and the Shenandoah Valley is stunning. I’m a transplant from Florida, so still getting used to the cold! I do love these Blue Ridge Mountains though. 🙂

  17. Hi Amy! I found you and your blog at Nikki’s meet and greet over @flyingthoughwater. Nice to meet you! I have a friend who use to live in Roanoke. She and her family moved to another part of Virginia about 5 years ago. I remember her saying that it was a day trip to venture out to Kohl’s and back again! I hope you will continue to make even more friendships and that His peace will continue to bless you and your family. We have a farm to table restaurant in our small town as well and the food is always outstanding! Nice to meet you! Terese

    1. Hi Terese. Thanks for stopping by! I’m guessing your friend must have lived in the country or on the other side of town. It’s a big county. I’m actually about 5 minutes from Kohl’s and from my grocery store. It takes about 20 min to get the mall and all the chain restaurants and so I’m always thinking I need to plan when I go there because it’s far away. lol.

      2. It took a bit to get used to (mostly the winters) since I am from South Florida, but we enjoy the area. I haven’t been able to explore as much as I’d like because my youngest has kept our weekends tied up with travel soccer. This will be the first year that she does not travel (only will play for school) in the spring, so I’m looking forward to exploring after the winter.

  23. Hi Amy, my sister and I are in Scottsdale for the weekend and decided to see if we could find anything on my grandfathers sister Reva Boan. (Reva Tyler Silverman). We met has several times in our childhood. We actually went to her gravesite yesterday but we’re trying to find some of her artwork here. Our grandfather Carl pushmataha Tyler was her full brother but they did have several other half siblings because their mother died at a young age and their father remarried. I am not sure of the connection after reading your blog But would be interested In taking a closer look. To our knowledge Reva never had a child.

    1. Hi Lisa. I will send you an e-mail as well. My grandmother was named after Reva Boan (Reva Tyler Silverman). Reva was the midwife during her delivery. I thought that perhaps that had been her job when I started seeing if I could track her down. That was when I discovered that she was an artist. Although I do not know for sure, I suspect that her first husband worked with my great-grandfather since they are both listed on the census as working on the tools used in the copper mines. I further suspect (but again, have no proof) that this was how Reva came to know my great-grandmother and be there at the delivery of my Grandma Reva VanHoose Scott (1929-2013)

  24. Yes I’m a stay st home mom a as well and a wife my kids are older now my daughter 22 and my Son 17 . Now I find myself on a new path and new journey figuring out who I am now after all these yrs of just being mom.. love your blog and posts.
